Nicola Jackman BMus, Dip Kodaly
About me
Violin, viola and music theory teacher
I am a New Zealand born violin teacher with many years teaching experience.
After completing my music degree I came to London to continue my musical studies on violin. I did further postgraduate studies in Italy. I have combined a career of freelance performance with violin teaching. I have a special interest in baroque violin and period performance and a diploma in Kodaly musicianship which I use in my teaching.
I have been teaching violin and viola in schools ( Queensgate, Notting Hill and Ealing and Putney High Schools), and privately at home in London and have now relocated to Sherborne in Dorset.
My aim is to set my pupils up well with a good technique from the start and to develop the whole musician. I have a reputation for excellent exam results but I am also happy to teach on a ‘playing for fun’ basis.
It is very important to speak to me before purchasing an instrument to ensure that it is suitable. I have a lovely collection of instruments of different sizes which I hire out or I can guide you towards purchasing an instrument.
Lessons of 30,40 or 60 minutes are available. Please do get in touch for a trial lesson. Lessons take place at my home in Sherborne. Children and adults are welcome, both beginners or more advanced students.
I enjoy teaching music theory and can work towards Grade 5 very quickly.
